The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has directed banks to freeze the bank accounts of Shuchona Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The accounts, frozen on November 21, will remain so for 30 days, with the possibility of an extension if necessary.
The anti-money laundering agency also sought updated bank accounts details of the foundation within five working days.
The accounts of the foundation, established in 2014, were frozen for suspicious transactions, according to the BFIU officials.
Putul, Muzharul Mannan and Zain Bari Rizvi are three of the trustees of the foundation, which works to help people with mental disability, neurological disability, autism, and mental health issues.
